Cameron is a southerner happily adopted by the midwest. He is a graduate of Davidson College and Vanderbilt Divinity school, where he was honored with the Newcomb Prize for exemplifying the ideals of “the minister as theologian.” After serving Howard Congregational Church of Nashville during seminary, he practiced ministry for two years at Plymouth Church in Des Moines through the congregation’s pastoral residency program. He came to Grinnell in August 2014. Cameron believes that the pastor is called to serve as “a center of theological integrity” for the congregation. In his role at Grinnell UCC, he is working with the congregation to discern an authentic vision for ministry that is consistent with our church’s core values. He spends most of his time leading the staff in the formation of our weekly worship services, providing pastoral care to members of the church and community, and working with the church’s leadership to imagine a bold future for our ministries with the people of Grinnell.
Outside of his role as pastor, Cameron is active in service to the Wider Church. He is co-chair of the Cleveland-based Habakkuk Group, an initiative to support ministers and committees on ministry throughout the United Church of Christ. He shares a home in Des Moines with his partner, an architect, and a french bulldog named Nanny Hawkins. You can reach Cameron at firstname.lastname@example.org.
